When it comes to football, NJ and New York residents are all about the Giants and Jets. Both of these professional teams play at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and have a huge following. The two teams enter the 2018 NFL season with some great talent and it is expected that both teams will enjoy a successful season. The excitement this year started with a preseason game between the two teams in August. The game had the Jets walking away with a loss of 22-16 to the Giants, but this does not define the season that lies ahead. The two teams are entering this year strong and with some amazing athleticism on the rosters, they will surely be teams to beat.
Overview of Giants 2018 Team and Season Preview
The 2018 season marks the 94th season for the New York Giants and they are now under the direction of head coach Pat Shurmur. Though the Giants did not have an overly successful 2017 season, with a record of 3-13, this year provides much hope as there is some great talent that will be taking the field. The Giants added some great free agents to the roster, including Jonathan Stewart, Nate Solder, Patrick Omameh, and Connor Brown. As for trades, the team acquired Alec Ogletree from the Rams in exchange for the 4th and 6th round pick in the draft. The team also acquired Riley Dixon from the Broncos in exchange for the 7th round draft pick.
With Quarterbacks Eli Manning, Kyle Laulette and Alex Tanney, the Giants hope to improve upon their record and grab some more wins in the 2018 season.
2018 Preview for the New York Jets
The New York Jets will take the field at MetLife Stadium for the 49th season on the NFL. Under head coach Todd Bowles, the Jets are hoping to have a better season than 2017, where their record was just 5-11. The team has not made the playoffs since 2010 and that is the goal for this year. After a disappointing preseason with just one win and four losses, the Jets opened the 2018 season on September 10 with an amazing win over the Detroit Lions. The team enjoys a win of 48-17, so this is inspiring for fans who are cheering for the Jets to have a winning season.
The team is hopeful that their rookie quarterback, Sam Darnold, will get the job done as a starter. He will be taking the field with some great offensive starters including Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, Eric Tomlinson, and Spencer Long. The defense will be lead by Steve McLendon, Nathan Shepherd, Jordan Jenkins, Morris Claiborne, and other returning players from 2017.
